The beautiful Cotswold villages are the vision that most tourist have of England and who can blame them?                                                                                                                                                 
 
With its Cotswold stone and thatched rooftops they have become the archetypal English
scene.The Cotswolds in part are still very rural and you can soon get off the beaten track by
taking a B road which leads you to lanes only passable by one vehicle.

William Morris said of Bibery it was "the most beautiful village in England" .Today most visitors converge
on Arlington Row.In the 17th century they were homes and workshops for weavers but three centuries earlier
they were built to store the wool.
 
Arlington Mill is close by and stands on the site of an old corn mill which is mentioned in the Domesday Book.
The Mill was a museum but it was sold and is now a private dwelling with all the museum pieces sold off.
 
The River Coln flows through the village and is clear and shallow enough to see Trout.It is also a haven for
Ducks and Swans.

Great Tew is a beautiful small quiet village.Some of the cottages date back as far as the 16th century,many
of which fell into disrepair and in the 1970s it was made a conservation area.
 
Today Great Tew is picture postcard beautiful and a must on a tour of the Cotswolds.
